About

Emily is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY with her dog, Cosmo.

Her art is inspired by movement and personal experiences, intuitively channeling thoughts, emotions, and energies through to the canvas. Experimentation is a fundamental aspect of her creative process, infusing a sense of spontaneity into each piece, always searching for another way to lose control and let the work just happen. She encourages viewers to find their own unique connections to the colors, shapes, and movement within her creations.

Artist Statement

Emily's artistic journey began with a deep love for dance, and 35 years dedicated to the art of motion. She once took the stage, where her movements conveyed stories that went beyond words, captivating audiences with the wonder of movement. And sometimes still does!

Driven by a relentless curiosity and global pandemic to help, she transitioned from dancer to painter, seamlessly infusing her artwork with the grace, rhythm, and energy that had defined her dance. Yet what's truly exciting about her practice in art making, is her playful and experimental approach.

Each canvas becomes a mini laboratory, a space where she can fearlessly explore techniques, textures, and materials. She embraces “happy accidents” (hi bob!) and unexpected discoveries, infusing her art with a sense of joy and spontaneity.

Her work celebrates the dance of life, the interplay of movement and stillness, light and shadow, color and space, chaos and harmony. Through her paintings, she invites viewers to embrace the endless possibilities of artistic reinvention. Her path reminds us that the love of movement can take many forms, and genuine creativity knows no bounds.

An ever evolving dance with the universe.
